Regular maintenance helps keep your Snow Atlas environment secure, accurate, and operating as expected. Use the following checklist to review Snow Atlas configuration, discovery, integrations, access, licensing, and reporting.
The recommended review intervals and responsible teams are guidelines. Adjust them as needed to meet your organization's operational and security requirements.
Maintenance responsibilities
This checklist should be treated as a living document and maintained by the Snow administrator as the environment and maintenance requirements change.
It is recommended that your organization define a clear internal owner for Snow Atlas to help ensure that the environment is maintained appropriately.
Snow services
Ownership of Snow services should generally reside with the server team because maintenance may require administrator permissions or server access. The responsible team may need access to directory paths, permission to view and edit files, and permission to restart Windows Services.
Discovery
Responsibility for Snow Inventory Agent deployment should generally reside with the application packaging team, with the ITAM/SAM team verifying deployment completeness.
Snow Inventory Agent packages and configurations can be created in Snow Atlas by going to Applications > Package builder. Your organization is responsible for ensuring that the configuration is correct.
Licensing and reporting
Ownership of SAM Core should generally reside with the ITAM/SAM team.
