Snow Extenders act as intermediaries between your local environment and Snow Atlas. They receive data from Inventory Agents and Integration Manager, then forward it to Snow Atlas. They can also collect Active Directory details. Use the steps below to confirm that Snow Extender is operational and sending data correctly.
Confirm that the Snow Extender Windows Service is installed and successfully started

Once the service has started, verify that the temporary directory has been created:
C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Extender\tempInside this directory, confirm the existence of:
C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Extender\temp\incoming\data\ C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Extender\temp\incoming\announcementsThese folders handle Agent, SIM, and Discovery data.

Check Snow Extender log files for details on data processing:
C:\ProgramData\SnowSoftware\Extender\LogsReview the log and locate the line similar to:
"Picking up X Inventory files"This confirms that data is being sent.

Adjust the logging level for troubleshooting:
- Open Snow Extender Configurator and select the Debug option for more detailed logs.
- After completing troubleshooting, revert logging back to Info or Error to minimize local storage use.

Confirm the directories used by Snow Extender for data forwarding:

Review additional directories configured in Extender Configurator > File Elevator.
- Ensure that the polling interval is set appropriately. Reducing the interval during troubleshooting can decrease wait times.
- After testing, restore the default interval or increase it as needed based on local resources.
Following these steps ensures that the Snow Extender service is operating correctly and data is being forwarded to Snow Atlas, with logging configured for optimal troubleshooting.
