    Uninstall Command for Intune Deployment

Hi, I am trying to dpeloy flexera via MS Intune. It is proving diffilcult.

    I have

    MsiExec.exe /x "{8AF613C3-F0E2-4B82-AAC8-D90BBBFCDF6C} /qn /norestart

for the uninstall. This seems to remove the registry keys, but leaves the app behind c:\program files (x86) even after a reboot.

Is there anyway to uninstall completely?

  2. How do I deal with a SAM Optimization Hub - Unlicensed Commercial Installations issue? (I am trying to deal with all of the "problems" as this is a KPI we want to use.)

License is for an application and is Named User.

I've allocated all to all of the user names for the application.

After reconciliation, this reports 4 servers as needing licensed. Each are accessed by a special automatic account named sa_scripting.

The app appears in SAM Optimization Hub - Unlicensed Commercial Installations showing 4 unlicensed.

When I go to the App and Devices I can see the 4 servers that it is indicating are not license.

However, this is a Named User based license.

How do I exempt these 4 servers from this configuration so that I can have a positive impact and remove the negative impact on the KPI report?, or

How do I deal with this situation in general, as I expect many others in my list of 116 apps may have similar issues.

      @Toddmichael Janiszewski

If you're confident that the user account named sa_scripting doesn't require a named user license as per your contract and license entitlement use rights with this specific software publisher, you can excempt the installations (likely from installer evidence) that triggers the servers to consume the license. You should be able to find the 4 servers in the Consumption tab of the license and excempt from there.

For a more general solution you may want to create reports (you will likely need one per license) where you can find devices with server operating systems triggering name user license consumption (as an example), maybe something similar to:

imageand then use these reports to set up general excemption rules.

However, and I know I'm stating the obvious, please make sure that you understand the contracts and licensing rules of the respective software publishers before configuring the rules and incorporating these general excemptions into your effective license positions...

      Thanks,

      John Sorensen

I can't think of any reason beyond it just being a limitation in the UI around what fields are implemented to be available for selection in this particular grid.

The Flexera Ideas site (https://flexerasfdc.ideas.aha.io/) can be used to log a suggestion for adding additional fields. Raising an idea will allow other people to vote on it to also express their interest, and bring it to the attention of the relevant Flexera Product Managers for consideration.

Alternatively, the following idea has already been logged with a similar suggestion:

https://flexerasfdc.ideas.aha.io/ideas/ITAM-I-249 Add Last used date on the license consumption tab of user licenses

That idea hasn't had much interest yet, so voting for it and adding a comment about the particular other fields you're interested to see added may help it get more attention.

  3. Flexera One ITAM View Documentation - Has Something Changed?

Have Flexera made changes when you click on view documentation in Flexera One ITAM? Previously, if you were, for example, viewing the properties of an inventory device, you could click on the question mark at the top right of your screen, click view documentation, and this would take you directly to the relevant page of the help guide. Now, no matter where you are in ITAM, as soon as you click view documentation, it takes you straight to the Getting Started with IT Asset Management page. Why has this been removed please? It is a real inconvenience as you now have to search to try and locate what was previously readily available.

    Thanks

    Question with a best answer.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

We have created a ticket to track and address an issue with context-sensitive Help on certain FNMS/ITAM pages that contain subtabs.

Many pages continue to work as expected. For example, selecting Help from pages such as All Licenses, License Summary, All Inventory, All Containers, and Kubernetes Nodes takes you directly to the appropriate help topic. These pages do not contain subtabs as the key differentiator.

The issue you have found occurs on some pages that include subtabs. For example, on the Inactive Evidence page, the default tab currently opens the Get Started with IT Asset Management help topic instead of the page-specific help. However, selecting one of the other subtabs—such as File Evidence or Access Evidence—and then clicking Help will take you to the correct Inactive Evidence help topic.

As a temporary workaround, on pages with subtabs, please select a non-default subtab before clicking Help. And thank you for patience as we work to a better solution.

    • Yeah, I've run into this exact same thing and it's been driving me a little nuts. It used to be genuinely useful — say you were digging through the properties of a device in inventory, maybe a server, a laptop, even something like network switches, and you'd hit the "?" icon, click View Documentation, and boom, you're on the exact help page for that screen. No fuss.

Now it just chucks you onto the generic "Getting Started with IT Asset Management" page no matter what you were looking at. Doesn't matter if you're mid-way through checking license compliance or trying to figure out why a batch of network switches aren't showing the right inventory data same landing page every time. Feels like a downgrade, not an upgrade.

My hunch is Flexera did some kind of backend reshuffle of their documentation site (new CMS, restructured URLs, whatever) and the contextual deep-links just weren't remapped afterward. Happens more than you'd think when companies migrate help content. Could also be intentional if they're trying to funnel everyone through a single "hub" page, but if that's the reasoning, it's not landing well with anyone actually using the product day to day.

Honestly your best bet is logging it as a support ticket rather than just venting here (not that venting isn't warranted). If enough of us flag it, there's a decent chance it gets prioritized as a bug fix rather than filed away as "expected behavior."

    • Sure, using IT Visibility module shows EOSL data :)

  4. Can I remove users from IT Asset Accounts > All Accounts?

I want to remove some users who have left the company. I understand that I can go to User Management, select a user, and click the REMOVE button. However, there is also a user list under IT Asset Accounts. It looks like I can only Disable accounts there, not remove them. Why can't I remove users there?

  5. Request for API Details to Retrieve EOL Information from Flexera

    Hello Flexera Support Team,

We are looking to integrate Flexera data with our reporting and would like to retrieve End-of-Life (EOL) information for operating systems and software products through Flexera APIs.

Could you please help us with the following details?

    1. Which API endpoint(s) can be used to retrieve EOL information for software and operating systems?
    2. Does the API provide the following attributes?
      • EOL Date
      • EOL Status (Supported/Unsupported/EOL)
      • End of Support Date
      • Product Name
      • Product Version
      • Publisher/Vendor
    1. Could you share the relevant API documentation and sample request/response payloads?

  6. I am looking into monitoring usage on application Think-Cell which is an add-in to PowerPoint and Excel. Are there any out-of-the-box reporting I can benefit from? Any recommendations is highly appreciated.

    1 of 4
    • Yes this report will show if there is usage or not but baring in mind think-cell is a user metric - The user may have it installed but not have a license. Think cell will prompt the user for the license key every time they open excel or power-point so it might be beneficial to check the usage time of the installations as if they are only running for a few seconds i would presume this is not actually being used.
