Information about specific use of Powershell to write to the Event LogDiscussion
Starting with InstallShield 2015, PowerShell custom actions and PowerShell custom action support has been enhanced. In short there are cmdlets that let you interact with the running Basic MSI or InstallScript MSI installation at run time. The cmdlet changes enable you to get and set Windows Installer properties, expand the value of formatted expressions, and write information to the log file. The following example shows the necessary cmdlet and its usage.
New-EventLog -LogName Application -Source "YourCoName" Write-EventLog -LogName Application -Source YourCoName -EventId 1234 -EntryType Warning -Message "Your Installer Wrote to EventLog" -rawdata 10,20 exit(0)
