Step 1 — Configure the Power Schedule group

1. Navigate to the Power Schedule section in Commander.
2. Create a new Power Schedule group to define on/off actions.
   • Example configuration:
     • Power on at 08:00 AM EST / EDT
     • Power off at 18:00 PM EST / EDT
     • Apply Monday through Friday
     • No actions for weekends
3. Save the configuration.
   
   

Step 2 — Add the virtual machine to the group

1. Assign the AWS-hosted virtual machine PowerScheduleBCGTest to the Power Schedule group.
2. If the VM is not listed, perform an Inventory Synchronization to refresh Commander’s data.

Step 3 — Validate configuration

• Use the Events tab in the VM details to confirm that the machine was added to the Power Schedule group.
  
  
  
  
• Check log files for records showing successful execution of tasks applying the Power Schedule group. These logs should confirm configuration status.
  
  
  
  
• Review the Admin Portal Summary page to verify that the Power Schedule group is assigned to the correct VM.
  
  

Step 4 — Monitor scheduled behavior

• Confirm that the VM powers off automatically at 18:00 PM EST / EDT on Friday as configured.
  • Use the VM’s Events tab to review logs of the power-off operation. Sort and filter events by time as needed.
• Check the logs again to verify successful execution of the schedule-triggered task.
• Repeat the process to confirm that power-on operations occur according to the defined schedule.

Outcome

After completing these steps, the virtual machine follows the assigned Power Schedule, automatically powering on and off according to the configured times.
