How-To: For Snow Inventory Windows Agent 6.13 and newer, enabling the agent to scan for .jar files

In Snow Inventory Agent for Windows 6.13, the functionality is available to enable the scanning of .JAR files. The release notes can be found here:

When enabling the scanning of .JAR files, there are 2 additional configuration steps that will need to be completed before the .JAR file information will populate within Snow License Manager (SLM).

Overview of Steps

Below is an overview of the steps with more detailed instructions later:

Step 1 - The snowagent.config will need to be updated to add the .JAR file type into the Include Criteria.
Step 2 - The Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMACC) will need to be updated to have .JAR files included in the INV_FILE_FILTER

Instructions

Step 1 :
The snowagent.config is usually located at C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Inventory\Agent.
You may wish to take a copy of this file before making any changes.
Edit the snowagent.config and include the following FileType entry within the IncludeCriteria section:

Step 2:
Next, navigate to the Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMACC).
Within SMACC navigate to Basic System Settings>INV_FILE_FILTER.
Add JAR to the Setting Value:

Once both steps are completed, you will be able to see reporting of JAR files from Windows devices within Snow License Manager (SLM).
