You can send spot interruption warnings from AWS to the Flexera console in real time. These notifications help Ocean respond to termination events quickly and keep workloads running. Because AWS sends these events at the account and region level, you need to set up notifications for each AWS account and region that you use.
- Check EventBridge status
- In the AWS console, go to EventBridge for the region where your cluster runs.
- Make sure the EventBridge status is Inactive before you create or replace the integration.
- Open CloudFormation in the correct region
- In the AWS console, select the region you want to configure.
- Go to the CloudFormation service.
- Create a stack or StackSet
- To configure a single region, create a stack with new resources.
- To configure multiple regions at once, create a StackSet.
- Use the Flexera interruption notification template
- When you create the stack or StackSet, select Create from an S3 URL.
- For the template URL, use:
https://spotinst-public.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/cloudformation/templates/spot-interruption-notification-event-bridge-template.json.
- Provide required parameters
- Enter a stack name.
- Enter your Flexera account ID.
- Enter your Flexera token.
- Select Next, then review and create the stack.
Repeat these steps for every active AWS region where Ocean manages workloads and where you want to receive interruption notifications.
After the stacks complete successfully, AWS sends spot interruption warnings through EventBridge to the Flexera console in near real time, allowing Ocean to react to interruptions and rebalance workloads.
