You can send Spot interruption warnings from AWS to Flexera in real time using Amazon EventBridge. These notifications help your Elastigroup or Ocean workloads recover quickly when Spot instances receive a two‑minute interruption warning. Because EventBridge rules are regional, you need to configure this setup in each AWS account and region where you want interruption alerts.
-
In the AWS console, open EventBridge and confirm that the EventBridge status is Inactive.
This ensures EventBridge can reestablish a clean connection when the CloudFormation stack is created. -
Reestablish the EventBridge connection for Spot interruption notifications:
-
In the AWS console, select the region where you want to create notifications.
-
Go to CloudFormation.
-
Choose to Create stack (single region) or Create StackSet (multiple regions).
-
Select Create from an S3 URL and enter the template URL:
-
Select Next.
-
Enter the stack name, your Flexera (Spot) account ID, and the Flexera API token.
-
Complete the stack creation process.
-
Repeat these steps for each region where you want to receive interruption notifications.
-
The CloudFormation template includes:
-
An EventBridge Connection configured with your Flexera token
-
An API Destination that sends interruption events to Flexera
-
An EventBridge Rule that listens for EC2 Spot Instance Interruption Warning events
-
An IAM role that allows EventBridge to invoke the API destination
Once active, AWS automatically pushes interruption notifications to Flexera, and your Elastigroup or Ocean clusters can act on them immediately.
After completing these steps, Flexera receives Spot interruption warnings from AWS in real time. Your clusters can then perform automated recovery actions when AWS notifies that instances are about to be reclaimed.
