When deployment failures involve network fencing, vrouters used to establish the fenced network may remain orphaned instead of being automatically torn down. This article describes how to use the Commander v3 API to initiate cleanup and remove orphaned vrouters.
-
Send a POST request to the following URL using credentials that allow REST API calls:
https://your.commander/rest/v3/internal/fenced-networks/cleanup -
Ensure the account has the required permissions and the endpoint URL is correct. A successful request returns an HTTP status code 202 Accepted.
-
In Commander, open the Tasks tab to confirm the Fenced Network Cleanup task has started.
-
Once the task completes, verify that orphaned vrouters have been removed. If cleanup did not occur as expected:
- Gather a diagnostics package from Commander.
- Note the Completed Time of the Fenced Network Cleanup task.
- Open a support case and attach the diagnostics package for analysis.
Outcome
Executing this API call initiates a cleanup of orphaned vrouters from fenced networks, helping maintain network integrity after failed deployments.
