The FlexNet Inventory Agent provides preferences such as IncludeDirectory and IncludeFile to control which files are included in inventory scans. While IncludeDirectory can be managed through the web UI, IncludeFile requires manual configuration on each device.

Set IncludeDirectory in the web UI

1. Go to Inventory settings in the FlexNet Manager Suite web interface.
2. In File evidence settings, set the IncludeDirectory agent preference.

Configure IncludeFile

Windows

1. Open the Registry Editor.
2. Add the following registry entry:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ManageSoft Corp\ManageSoft\Tracker\CurrentVersion\IncludeFile

3. Set the value to the file name you want to include. For example: bar.txt

Configure IncludeFile

Unix/Linux

1. Create a temporary configuration file:

cat <<EOF >/tmp/tempconfig.ini

[ManageSoft\Tracker\CurrentVersion]

IncludeFile=bar.txt

EOF

2. Apply the configuration using mgsconfig:

/opt/managesoft/bin/mgsconfig -i /tmp/tempconfig.ini
