The following knowledge base article will provide information which will help you troubleshoot crashes that may occur with the InstallShield IDE (Installation Development Environment).
Discussion
The first step in troubleshooting any InstallShield IDE crash is to repair InstallShield. This can be done from the Add/Remove Programs applet or by running the InstallShield installation again. If that does not help, then the next step would be to uninstall and reinstall InstallShield on the machine.
If the above still does not help, then the following is a short list of possible causes...
- Anti-virus/anti-spy ware software running on the machine
- Insufficient privileges
- Corrupt machine
- Corrupt user account
- Lack of available hard drive space

Disable any anti-virus/anti-spyware software running on the machine. Please make sure that the processes for this software are no longer running in the task manager
- Make sure that you are logged in on an Administrator account on the machine
- Try launching InstallShield on another machine with (admin) account
- Create a new admin account and launch InstallShield
- Ensure that the drive that contains the %TEMP% location has enough free hard drive space (...about 2-3 times the size of your project).

You can also try creating a Process Monitor log that captures the crash. Process Monitor can be downloaded from here:
