Synopsis

The installation developer may choose to provide an uninstallation shortcut as an alternate method to uninstalling the application via the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel.

Discussion

The following steps shows one method of adding an uninstall icon:

1. Select the General Information view.

2. Select Product Properties.

3. Copy the Product Code GUID {Include the curly braces}.

4. Select the Shortcuts view.

5. Right-click on the Programs menu, and select New Shortcut to preexisting file.

6. Locate the Target property of this shortcut and enter [SystemFolder]Msiexec.exe as the value.

7. Locate the Arguments and enter /x{Product code including curly braces}.

8. Name the new shortcut in the Display name section (or right-click the shortcut and rename it).

9. Build, run, and test.

Following these steps is one way to add a shortcut to the programs menu that uninstalls your setup.

A Windows logo requirement states that the uninstaller must be accessible through Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel and must operate properly from the Control Panel.
