After upgrading from Code Insight 2025 R3 or earlier to Code Insight 2025 R4 or later, you may find that some users can no longer sign in. This commonly affects users who authenticate using local (non‑LDAP) credentials.
This article explains what to expect after the upgrade, how to regain access, and why this change was introduced.
New Admin Login Availability After Upgrade
Starting with Code Insight 2025 R4, the platform provides a new built‑in admin user named CodeInsight_2025R4. This account is available immediately after the upgrade and uses the default admin password.
If you are unable to sign in after upgrading, you can use the following credentials to access the system:
- User Name: CodeInsight_2025R4
- Password: Password123
After signing in, you can restore access for other users based on how they authenticate.
Restoring Access for LDAP Users
For users who authenticate using LDAP, run an LDAP sync after the upgrade. This re‑establishes authentication and allows users to sign in with their directory credentials.
Restoring Access for Non‑LDAP Users
For non‑LDAP users, you can set a new password for each user under the Users / Permissions page. If you need to update all non‑LDAP users in a batch, the recommended approach is to update all non‑LDAP user passwords in the database to a temporary known value. After this update, ask each user to sign in and reset their password during their next login. This ensures all users set a new password while quickly restoring access after the upgrade.
IMPORTANT: To use the Forgot password option, Code Insight must be configured with a working email server. Without email configuration, users won’t receive password reset emails.
Database Query to Update the Password for Non-LDAP Users
The following is an example of a database query used to update the password for all non-LDAP users.
UPDATE
PAS_USER
SET PASSWORD_ = 'TempPass'
WHERE LDAP_AUTHENTICATED_ = 0;
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you create a backup of the database before carrying out any operations.
Why Was This Change Introduced?
Code Insight 2025 R4 included updates to how the platform handles passwords. These changes improve security and consistency, but this also means that existing authentication configurations may not work immediately after an upgrade, so a new built‑in admin account ensures you can still access the system.
