When using Azure Stateful nodes with optimization windows, customers may notice that revert-to-spot operations do not occur within the expected time range. This behavior typically results from incorrectly defining the timeframe configuration.
The observed issue arises when the timeframe is defined as a multi-day window (e.g., Monday 11:00 to Sunday 23:30). In this configuration, Elasticgroup interprets the period as a continuous duration rather than repeating daily. As a result, optimization can occur outside the intended daily hours.
To ensure revert-to-spot happens at specific times each day, configure the timeframe on a per-day basis. For example:
- Monday:
- From: Monday 11:00
- To: Monday 23:30
- Click Apply
Repeat this process for each day (Tuesday, Wednesday, and so forth) by setting the desired start and end times for every day individually.
The screenshot below illustrates applying customization per day instead of using a weekly duration. This resolves the issue and ensures workloads move from on-demand to spot only within the configured daily hours.
By configuring optimization windows separately for each day, users maintain control over revert-to-spot scheduling and prevent actions from extending beyond intended hours.
