A 403 Forbidden error occurs when calling the Flexera One ITAM REST API if the user does not have sufficient privileges to perform the requested action. The error response indicates the missing permissions required for the operation. Follow the steps below to correct the issue by ensuring the appropriate role is assigned.
Solution:
1. Confirm the user making the API request receives an error similar to:
{
"name": "forbidden",
"id": "ZRqljLCI",
"message": "insufficient privilege for path #1: requires fnms:asset:index, common:org:own",
"temporary": false,
"timeout": false,
"fault": false
}
2. Contact a Manage Organization owner (who has full access to Flexera One capabilities) and ask them to ensure the user making the API call has the View IT assets & call APIs role enabled.
To grant this role, the Manage Organization owner must:
- Navigate to Administration > Identity Management > User Management.
- Locate the user making the API call.
- Grant the View IT assets & call APIs role at the Organization level if it is not already assigned.
Outcome:
After applying the role assignment, the user should have sufficient privileges to call the Flexera One ITAM REST API successfully without encountering the 403 Forbidden error.
After applying the role assignment, the user should have sufficient privileges to call the Flexera One ITAM REST API successfully without encountering the 403 Forbidden error.
